Raising quality Standard Chinchillas and New Zealands

Hi, and Welcome to the Novas Rex Rabbitry! I am Liz, and have now raised Rabbits for about 12 years. In the time I have raised rabbits I have had several different breeds, mostly cross breeds (when I was younger); I have raised Rex and mini rex, I probably won't raise mini rex again--theirs too many and too much competition, it's so hard to find a good one; Holland lops; Netherland Dwarfs; Jersey Woolies; English Lops, and what I have now--Standard chinchillas (their my favorite), New Zealands and my one Harlequin.

I started raising rabbits back in 1997 with a holland lop named mis puppy, and 2 netherland dwarfs, zip and smokey. Back in our old house in Marysville, WA. I came up with the name about 4 years ago, when I was thinking about developing a new breed of rex; when I was thinking of a name for it, my dad suggested "The Novas Rex" and he said that it was Latin for "The New King", and I thought it was a cool name and it just stuck even though I don't raise rex anymore.

I started raising rabbits when I was 9, I had always wanted rabbits and always wanted alot. so now i am pursuing a degree in small acrage farming and will be attending WSU in fall 2008. Well I do have alot now, or atleast my mom thinks so, I only have 2 Standard Chinchillas, 1 Harlequin, and 4 New Zealands,a total of 7 rabbits. When I am finished with school I plan to have a lot more than just 7.
