Raising Top Quality Standard Chinchillas

henrey.jpeg

Hi, and Welcome to the Novas Rex Rabbitry! I am Liz, and have now raised Rabbits for about 13 years. In the time I have raised rabbits I have had several different breeds,I started with a cross breed (I don't know what it was crossed with, looking back though i am going to guess it was a cross between a holland lop and netherland dwarf or polish). I have raised Rex and mini rex, I probably won't raise mini rex again--theirs too many and too much competition, it's so hard to find a good one--I have also raised Holland lops, Netherland Dwarfs, Jersey Woolies, English Lops, Harlequins, New Zealands, silver martens, and what I have now my Beatiful Standard chinchillas. They are truely my favorites and I will always have them, no matter what other breeds I pick up on the way.

I started raising rabbits back in 1996 With my cross and my sisters cross-Lucky and penny-lucky was broken black and penny was broken brown, probly tort (it was to long ago to remember clearly) after them I got a holland lop named mis puppy, and 2 netherland dwarfs, zip and smokey. Back when we lived in our old house in Marysville, WA. I then got my fisrt mini Rex a few years latter Named M'n'M because I thought he looked like a red M'n'M, he was a caster buck, but as he matures he was very long, langthy and over wieght, and that when i came up with the name of my Rabbitry, I was thinking about developing a new breed of rex, after my beloved M'n'M; when I was thinking of a name for it, my dad suggested "The Novas Rex" and he said that it was Latin for "The New King", and I thought it was a cool name and it just stuck even though I don't raise rex anymore, and my M'n'M is now gone.

I started raising rabbits when I was 8, I had always wanted rabbits and always wanted alot. I am now pursueing my Medical Assisting certification, and plan for that to be my main source of income but still have my rabbits on the side. I am curently trying to get ahold of some continental giant rabbits-because that would be awsome if I can get my hands on some of those. right now I curently have 4 Standard chinchillas. School is going well and I will graduate this year. I don't plan to breed any this year and focus on my graduation; but next year I am hoping that my rabbitry will grow, and blossom:)
